وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ افْتَتَحَ الصَّلَاةَ فَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى جَاوَزَ بِهِمَا أُذُنَيْهِ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْكَبِيرِ وَفِيهِ الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ أَرْطَاةَ وَاخْتُلِفَ فِي الِاحْتِجَاجِ بِهِ .

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin al-Zubayr (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raise his hands at the beginning of the prayer until he brought them (that is, both hands) up to his ears.
Ahmad and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir) recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, al-Hajjaj bin Artah, and there is disagreement about using him as evidence.
