Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: On the night the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was taken on the Mi'raj, he was staying at my house. During the night I found him missing, and I could not sleep the whole night out of fear that someone from Quraysh might have harmed him. (When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came,) he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril came to me, took my hand and led me outside. Outside the house there was an animal, somewhat smaller than a mule and somewhat larger than a donkey. Jibril mounted me on it and set off, until we reached Bayt al-Maqdis. He showed me Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him); his outward form resembles my outward form, and my character resembles his character. Jibril showed me Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), a tall man of wheatish complexion with straight hair, who resembled the men of the Azd Shanu'ah tribe. Jibril also showed me Sayyiduna Isa bin Maryam (peace be upon him); he was of medium height and of white complexion tinged with red; I can liken him to Urwah bin Mas'ud al-Thaqafi. Jibril also showed me the Dajjal, whose right eye was missing; I can liken him to Qatan bin Abd al-Uzza." (Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her):) "Now I am going to Quraysh, and I will tell them about what I have seen." (Sayyidah Umm Hani (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates:) I took hold of his (peace and blessings be upon him) garment and said: "I adjure you by Allah: if you go to your people, they will call you a liar and deny what you say, and I fear that they may harm you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) freed his garment from my hand and went to them. They were sitting, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told them the same thing that he (peace and blessings be upon him) had told me. Then Jubayr bin Mut'im stood up and said: "O Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him)! If you were young as you used to be, you would not have said what you have said while living among us."
A man among those present said: "O Sayyiduna Muhammad! Did you also pass by our camels at such-and-such a place?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes! By Allah, I found them; one of their camels had gone missing and they were searching for it." The man asked: "Did you also pass by the camels of Banu so-and-so?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes! I found them at such-and-such a place; their red she-camel had broken (its neck). I found that they had a bowl of water with them, and I drank that water." They said: "Tell us how many (camels) there were, and how many herders were with them." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "At that time I did not count them." But then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up, and that scene came before him; he counted the camels and learned about the herders with them. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) came to Quraysh and said to them: "You asked me about the camels of Banu so-and-so: they are so many, and with them are so many herders, namely so-and-so and so-and-so. And you asked me about the camels of Banu so-and-so: they are so many, and with them are so many herders: the son of Abu Quhafah, and so-and-so and so-and-so. They will appear before you at the mountain pass tomorrow morning." The narrator says: So they sat by that mountain pass watching, (to see) whether the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had told them the truth. The camels came before them, and the polytheists asked those people: "Did a camel of yours go missing?" They replied: "Yes!" Then the polytheists asked the other people: "Did your red she-camel break (its neck)?" They replied: "Yes!" The polytheists asked: "Did you have a bowl?" Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "By Allah! I placed it there myself, and no one drank from it, nor did anyone pour it out on the ground (yet its water had gone down)." So Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) affirmed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in this and believed in him, and on that day he was named "al-Siddiq".
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Abd al-A'la bin Abi al-Musawir, who is matruk (abandoned) and a kadhdhab (liar).
