Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 2337

An elder from the tribe of Tayyi' narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) passed by our mosque. A man from among them went forward (to lead the prayer). He began reciting Surah al-Fatihah, then he recited these words: "We will perform Hajj to the House of our Lord and fulfil what is due upon us, and it (the House) is like sandgrouse (qata) birds swooping down." Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We have not heard these words anywhere else; these are his own invention. Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) turned away.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir. I do not know this elder from the tribe of Tayyi', and the remaining narrators of this report are thiqat (trustworthy).
