عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ أُسَامَةَ الْجُهَنِيِّ قَالَ : لَقِيتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي أَصْحَابِهِ بِالسُّوقِ فَقُلْتُ : أَيْنَ يُرِيدُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - ؟ قَالُوا : يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَخُطَّ لِقَوْمِكَ مَسْجِدًا قَالَ : فَأَتَيْتُ وَقَدْ خَطَّ لَهُمْ مَسْجِدًا وَغَرَزَ فِي قِبْلَتِهِ خَشَبَةً فَأَقَامَهَا قِبْلَةً .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَالْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ ، وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ .
رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ وَالْكَبِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَبِيبٍ ، وَلَمْ أَجِدْ مَنْ تَرْجَمَهُ .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Usamah al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I met the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the market, and his Companions were with him. I said: "Where is the Messenger of Allah going?" The people said: "He (peace and blessings be upon him) intends to mark out a mosque for your people." The narrator says: When I came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had already had a mosque marked out for them, a piece of wood had been planted in the direction of the qiblah, and it had been set up to mark the qiblah.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat and al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains Mu'awiyah bin Abdullah bin Habib, and I have not found anyone who has given his biography.
