عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نَصْنَعَ الْمَسَاجِدَ فِي دُورِنَا وَأَنْ نُصْلِحَ صَنْعَتَهَا وَنُطَهِّرَهَا .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ وَإِسْنَادُهُ صَحِيحٌ .

Urwah bin al-Zubayr reports from one of the Companions that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to command us to build mosques in our neighbourhoods, to build them well, and to keep them clean and pure.
Ahmad recorded it, and its chain is sahih (authentic).
