Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1964

Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! My father has left behind a debt owed to a Jew." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I will come to you on Saturday, if Allah wills." The narrator says: This was in the season of harvesting, when the fruit is cut from the palm trees. When it was the morning of Saturday, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me. When he came to me, he also came into my date orchard. He went towards the water channel and performed ablution from it, then went to the place of prayer and prayed two rak'ahs. Then I took him to my tent, spread out for him a mat made of hair, and placed for him a cushion made of hair stuffed with palm fibre, and he reclined on it. After a short while Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived; it seemed as if he had seen what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had done. He too performed ablution and prayed two rak'ahs. After a short while Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, and he too performed ablution and prayed two rak'ahs, as if he had seen his two companions. Both of them came in; Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) sat at the head side of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sat at his feet. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: A part of this narration is reported in the Sahih.
Ahmad recorded it; its chain contains Umar bin Salamah bin Abi Yazid, and I have not found anyone who mentioned him.
