Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1911

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the mu'adhdhin who hopes for reward is like that of the martyr who is soaked in his own blood. When he (that is, the mu'adhdhin) dies, his body will not decay in his grave."
Imam al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir; its chain contains a narrator, Ibrahim bin Rustum, about whom there is disagreement as to whether he can be used as evidence, and its chain also contains a narrator whose biography could not be identified. Many hadiths on the virtue of the adhan have already passed.
