Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rabi'ah al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey, and he heard a mu'adhdhin saying "Ashhadu an la ilaha illallah (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I too bear witness that there is no god besides Allah Almighty." The mu'adhdhin said "Ashhadu anna Muhammadan rasulullah (I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I bear witness that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "You will find him to be a shepherd of goats or a man away from his family."
Imam Ahmad and Imam al-Tabarani in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir recorded this narration, and he added these words: When they came down into the valley, there was a dead goat there. He said, "Do you think that it is worthless to its owner?" The people said, "Yes." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This world is more worthless in the sight of Allah Almighty than this (dead goat) is to its owners." The narrators of this narration are the narrators of the Sahih.
