Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: One night the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) delayed the Isha prayer until a large part of the night had passed, so much so that some of those present in the mosque fell asleep. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out, some people were sleeping and some were praying, and all of them were waiting for the prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "As long as people are waiting for the prayer, they are continuously counted as being in prayer. Were it not for the weakness of the elderly and the crying of children, I would have delayed the Isha prayer until a part of the night had passed." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Seventy thousand people will enter Paradise who will not be taken to account." The narrator says: Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went into the house. When he had gone into the house, we sat among ourselves and began talking about those seventy thousand people: would they be the martyrs? Some said: "They will be the martyrs." Some said: "They will be the believers." Meanwhile the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out and asked: "What are you people discussing?" We told him about it, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "They will be those who do not have themselves cauterised, do not seek ruqyah (incantation), do not take bad omens, and who place their trust in their Lord."
Al-Bazzar recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih except Mujalid bin Sa'id, whose case is different, and he has been declared thiqah (trustworthy).
