Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: One day the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to those people and said to them: "My Lord gave me the choice that seventy thousand people (that is, of my Ummah) would enter Paradise, by way of pardon without any reckoning, or that I keep stored with the Lord (that is, intercession) for my Ummah." Some of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O Messenger of Allah! Will your Lord keep that stored?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went into the house, then came out saying the takbir, and said: "My Lord has additionally granted me that with every thousand there will be seventy thousand more, and the thing stored with Him (that is, intercession) also remains." Abu Ruhm said: "O Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub! What do you think is the thing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has stored?" The people set upon him with their tongues (that is, they rebuked him harshly) and said: "What have you to do with the thing the Messenger of Allah has stored?" Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Leave him alone! I will tell you about the thing the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has stored, as I think it to be, or rather as I am certain of it. The thing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has stored is that he will say: 'O my Lord! Whoever testifies that there is no god but Allah, He alone, having no partner, and that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger, with his tongue confirming his heart, admit him into Paradise.'"
Ahmad and at-Tabarani recorded it. Its chain contains a narrator, Abdullah bin Nashir, who is from Banu Sari', whom I do not know, and a narrator, Ibn Lahi'ah, whom the majority have declared da'if (weak).
