Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) relates: The two sons of Mulaykah came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "Our mother used to honour her husband, was kind to the children and was hospitable to guests; however, she buried (a child) alive in the Era of Ignorance (or perhaps what is meant is that she died in the Era of Ignorance)." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Your mother will go to Hell." The two of them went back, with distress showing on their faces. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gave an order concerning them, and they were called back. When they returned, signs of joy could be seen on their faces, as they hoped that perhaps some new ruling had come about this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My mother too will be with the mother of you two." A man from among the hypocrites said: "He could not be of any use to his own mother, and yet we follow him!" At this, a man from the Ansar said (the narrator says: I never saw anyone who asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) more questions than this man), he asked: "O Messenger of Allah, has your Lord made you any promise concerning her (the narrator is unsure, or perhaps the words are:) concerning the two of them (that is, your parents)?" The narrator says: It is his assumption that perhaps he had heard something about this. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have not asked my Lord about this, and my Lord has not given me any hope regarding it; however, on the Day of Resurrection I will stand at al-Maqam al-Mahmud (the Praised Station)." That Ansari asked: "O Messenger of Allah, what is al-Maqam al-Mahmud?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When you are brought naked, barefoot and uncircumcised, the first to be clothed will be Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him). Allah Almighty will say: 'Clothe My Khalil (intimate friend).' Two white sheets will be brought, and Sayyiduna Ibrahim (peace be upon him) will put them on; then he will sit facing the Throne. Then my garment will be brought and I will put it on, and I will stand on the right side of the Throne in a place where no one other than me can stand, and for this the first and the last of people will envy me." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) also said: "A river will be opened from al-Kawthar to the Pond." A hypocrite said: "The water of a river can only flow over black mud or small pebbles." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Its mud will be of musk and its pebbles will be of pearls." The hypocrite said: "I have never heard anything like what I heard today. Whenever water flows over mud or pebbles, vegetation also grows as a result." The Ansari said: "O Messenger of Allah, will this river have vegetation too?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, there will be rods (that is, plants) of gold." The hypocrite said: "I have never heard anything like what I heard today. Whenever there is vegetation, it also has leaves and it also has fruits." The Ansari asked: "O Messenger of Allah, will it have fruits too?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, in the form of various kinds of jewels. The water of that Pond will be whiter than milk and sweeter than honey. Whoever drinks from it once will not be thirsty after that, and whoever is deprived of it will never be quenched after that."
Ahmad, al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani recorded it; the chains of all of them contain a narrator, Uthman bin Umayr, who is da'if (weak).
