وَعَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْعَطَّارِ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ - لَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا رَفَعَهُ - قَالَ : " لَمْ يَلْقَ ابْنُ آدَمَ شَيْئًا مُنْذُ خَلَقَهُ اللَّهُ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - أَشَدَّ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْمَوْتِ ، ثُمَّ الْمَوْتُ أَهْوَنُ مِمَّا بَعْدَهُ ، وَإِنَّهُمْ لَيَلْقَوْنَ مِنْ هَوْلِ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ شِدَّةً حَتَّى يُلْجِمَهُمُ الْعَرَقُ ، حَتَّى إِنَّ السُّفُنَ لَوْ أُجْرِيَتْ فِيهِ لَجَرَتْ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ جَيِّدٌ ، وَرَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ عَنْهُ ، وَلَمْ يَشُكَّ فِي رَفْعِهِ ، وَإِسْنَادُهُ جَيِّدٌ .
Abd al-Aziz al-Attar reports this narration from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him), and I think he reported it as a marfu' hadith. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Since Allah Almighty created the son of Adam, he has not faced anything harder for him than death; and yet death is easy compared with what comes after it. On the Day of Resurrection people will face such severe terror that sweat will bridle them, and the sweat will be so much that if ships were sailed in it, they would sail."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is jayyid (good). Ahmad recorded it in abridged form from that Companion, and he did not express doubt about its being marfu', and its chain is jayyid (good).
