Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 18266

Abdullah bin Shaqiq narrates: I stayed with Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) in Madinah for a year. One day he said to me, while we were near the chamber of Sayyidah Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her): I remember about ourselves that we did not have proper clothes, only worn-out cloaks, and several days would pass over us in which we did not get enough food to keep our backs upright, to the extent that one of us would take a stone and tie it to his stomach with a cloth so that he could keep his back upright by means of it.
Ahmad recorded this narration, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
