وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : لَمَّا كَانَ يَوْمُ الْخَنْدَقِ نَظَرْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَوَجَدَتْهُ قَدْ وَضَعَ حَجَرًا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ إِزَارِهِ ; يُقِيمُ بِهِ صُلْبَهُ مِنَ الْجُوعِ . رَوَاهُ أَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَرِجَالُهُ وُثِّقُوا عَلَى ضَعْفٍ فِي إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the Battle of the Trench, I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He had placed a stone between his body and his waist-wrapper, and in his hunger he was keeping his back upright with it.
Abu Ya'la recorded this narration, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy, although there is weakness in Isma'il bin Abd al-Malik.
