وَعَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ : خَرَجَ إِلَيْنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ - يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ - وَهُوَ خَاثِرٌ فَقُلْنَا : مَا لَكَ ؟ قَالَ : ذَهَبَ صَفْوُ الدُّنْيَا ، وَلَمْ يَبْقَ إِلَّا الْكَدَرُ ، وَالْمَوْتُ الْيَوْمَ تُحْفَةٌ لِكُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِإِسْنَادَيْنِ ، وَأَحَدُهُمَا جَيِّدٌ .
Abu Juhayfah narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) came out to us, and he was in a low mood. We asked: "What is the matter with you?" He said: "The clear part of the world has gone and only its murky part remains, and today death is a gift for every Muslim."
Al-Tabarani recorded it with two chains, one of which is jayyid (good).
