Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Rabi'ah al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey. Meanwhile he heard the voice of a caller to prayer (mu'adhdhin) who was saying: "I bear witness that there is no god but Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I too bear witness that there is no god but Allah." The mu'adhdhin said: "I bear witness that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I too bear witness that Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah." Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You will find him to be either a shepherd or someone who is away from his family." When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) descended into the valley, he found a dead goat that had been thrown away. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you think that this is worthless to its owners? The world is more worthless to Allah Almighty than this (goat) is to its owners."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
