It is reported from Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him): They slept with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during a journey until the sun rose. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him), and he called the adhan. Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) offered two rak'ahs. Then Sayyiduna Bilal (may Allah be pleased with him) called the iqamah, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) led the people in prayer; this was after the sun had risen.
Al-Bazzar and al-Tabarani in al-Kabir recorded it in abridged form, and its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
