Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17883

Sayyidah Aishah Siddiqah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever asks about me" (the narrator is unsure, or perhaps the words are:) whoever would like to look at me, let him look at a man with dishevelled hair and a changed complexion, who is devoted to worship (or who has no proper clothing), who has not laid one brick upon another nor one reed upon another (that is, has built nothing), before whom a banner is raised and he girds himself and heads for it. Today is the day of preparation, tomorrow is the day of the result, and the final destination is Paradise or Hell."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains Sulayman bin Abi Karimah, who is da'if (weak).
