بَابٌ فِيمَنْ يَرْضَى بِمَا قُسِمَ لَهُ .
One who is content with what is allotted to him

عَنْ أَبِي الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ الشِّخِّيرِ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَحَدُ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ - وَلَا أَحْسَبُهُ إِلَّا قَدْ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : أَنَّ اللَّهَ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - يَبْتَلِي عَبْدَهُ بِمَا أَعْطَاهُ ، فَمَنْ رَضِيَ بِمَا قُسِمَ لَهُ ، بَارَكَ اللَّهُ [ لَهُ ] فِيهِ وَوَسِعَهُ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَرْضَ لَمْ يُبَارَكْ لَهُ . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Abu al-Ala' bin al-Shikhkhir relates: A man from Banu Sulaym narrated
this to me, and I think that he had seen the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). He related that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, Allah Almighty tests His servant through what He gives him. If the servant is pleased with what Allah Almighty has allotted to him, Allah Almighty places blessing for him in it and grants him abundance; and if he is not pleased, no blessing is placed for him."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
