Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Once we were with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when someone came, and he was told that so-and-so had passed away and had left behind two dinars (the narrator is in doubt, or perhaps the words are:) two dirhams. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Two brands (of fire)."
Ahmad recorded it. Its chain contains Sharik bin Abdullah al-Nakha'i, whom more than one scholar has declared thiqah (trustworthy), and the remaining narrators of this report are the narrators of the Sahih. (Allamah Haythami says:) I say: Some reports on this subject have already passed at the end of the Book of Zakah, in the chapter on voluntary charity.
