وَعَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ - فِيمَا يَعْلَمُ أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ - قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَمُحَقِّرَاتِ الذُّنُوبِ ; فَإِنَّ مِثْلَ مُحَقِّرَاتِ الذُّنُوبِ كَقَوْمٍ نَزَلُوا بَطْنَ وَادٍ ، فَجَاءَ ذَا بِعُودٍ ، وَجَاءَ ذَا بِعُودٍ ، حَتَّى أَنْضَجُوا خُبْزَتَهُمْ ، وَإِنَّ مُحَقِّرَاتِ الذُّنُوبِ مَتَى يُؤْخَذُ بِهَا صَاحِبُهَا تُهْلِكُهُ " .
وَقَالَ أَبُو حَازِمٍ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : - قَالَ أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ : وَلَا أَحْسَبُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ - قَالَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ السَّاعَةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ " . وَفَرَّقَ بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ الْوُسْطَى وَالَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ السَّاعَةِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ بَعَثَهُ قَوْمُهُ طَلِيعَةً ، فَلَمَّا خَشِيَ أَنْ يُسْبَقَ أَلَاحَ بِثَوْبِهِ : أَتَيْتُمْ أَتَيْتُمْ " . ثُمَّ يَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَنَا ذَاكَ " . رَوَاهُ كُلَّهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
وَقَالَ أَبُو حَازِمٍ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : - قَالَ أَبُو ضَمْرَةَ : وَلَا أَحْسَبُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ - قَالَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ السَّاعَةِ كَهَاتَيْنِ " . وَفَرَّقَ بَيْنَ إِصْبَعَيْهِ الْوُسْطَى وَالَّتِي تَلِي الْإِبْهَامَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ السَّاعَةِ كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ بَعَثَهُ قَوْمُهُ طَلِيعَةً ، فَلَمَّا خَشِيَ أَنْ يُسْبَقَ أَلَاحَ بِثَوْبِهِ : أَتَيْتُمْ أَتَيْتُمْ " . ثُمَّ يَقُولُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " أَنَا ذَاكَ " . رَوَاهُ كُلَّهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Anas bin Iyad, a narrator, says: Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Beware of committing minor sins, for the example of minor sins is like a people who camp in the low part of a valley; then one man brings a stick and another man brings a stick, until they (burn those sticks and) bake their bread. Likewise, when the one who commits minor sins is taken to account for those sins, they will destroy him." Abu Hazim says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said — Abu Damrah, a narrator, says: I think this narration is reported from Sayyiduna Sahl bin Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) — (The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:) "My example and that of the Hour is like these two." The narrator says: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this while separating his middle finger and the finger next to the thumb (that is, pointing with these two fingers). Then he said: "My example and that of the Hour is like a man whose people send him ahead to scout the situation; when he fears that (the danger) will reach (his people) before him, he waves his cloth and says: '(Danger) is about to reach you, it is about to reach you.'" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am that person."
