بَابٌ فِي النَّوْمِ قَبْلَهَا وَالْحَدِيثِ بَعْدَهَا .

Majma al-Zawaid 1764 — Sleeping before Isha and talking after it
وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ : كُنَّا نَتَنَاوَبُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فَنَبِيتُ عِنْدَهُ تَكُونُ لَهُ الْحَاجَةُ ، أَوْ يَطْرُقُهُ أَمْرٌ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَيَبْعَثُنَا ، فَيَكْثُرُ الْمُحْتَسِبُونَ وَأَهْلُ النُّوَبِ ، فَكُنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ ، فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ : " مَا هَذِهِ النَّجْوَى ؟ أَلَمْ أَنْهَكُمْ عَنِ النَّجْوَى ؟ " قَالَ : فَقُلْنَا : نَتُوبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ .
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ مُوَثَّقُونَ .

Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We had set turns for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); one of us would stay the night with him so that, if he had some need or some matter came up at night, he could send us. Then the number of those hoping for reward and of those taking turns grew large. Once we were talking, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us at night and said: What is this conversation? Did I not forbid you from conversing? The narrator says: We said: O Prophet of Allah! We repent to Allah Almighty. After this the narrator mentioned the complete hadith.
