وَعَنِ الْحَسَنِ الْبَصْرِيِّ قَالَ : بَلَغَنِي : أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " إِنَّ لِلَّهِ - عَزَّ وَجَلَّ - مِائَةَ رَحْمَةٍ ، وَإِنَّهُ قَسَّمَ رَحْمَةً وَاحِدَةً بَيْنَ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ فَوَسِعَتْهُمْ إِلَى آجَالِهِمْ ، وَادَّخَرَ عِنْدَهُ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ رَحْمَةً لِأَوْلِيَائِهِ ، وَاللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قَابِضٌ تِلْكَ الرَّحْمَةَ الَّتِي قَسَمَهَا بَيْنَ أَهْلِ الْأَرْضِ إِلَى التِّسْعَةِ وَالتِّسْعِينَ فَيُكْمِلُهَا مَائَةَ رَحْمَةٍ لِأَوْلِيَائِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Hasan al-Basri narrates: This narration has reached me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah Almighty has one hundred mercies. One mercy of them He has distributed among the people of the earth, and it has sufficed for them all until their appointed terms; and 99 parts of mercy He has kept in reserve with Himself, which He has kept as mercy for His friends. The one part of mercy that He has distributed among the people of the earth, Allah Almighty will take and join with the 99 parts that are with Him, and complete one hundred parts, and these will be for His friends on the Day of Resurrection."
