Sayyiduna Jundab (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin came, made his mount kneel and then tied it. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had finished the prayer, that man came to his mount, untied its fetter, mounted it, and then called out loudly: 'O Allah! Have mercy on me and on Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and do not make anyone a partner in Your mercy upon us.' The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: 'What do you people think? Is he more astray or his camel? Did you not hear what he said?' The people replied: 'Yes!' (that is, we heard what he said). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have narrowed Allah Almighty's vast mercy. Allah Almighty made mercy in 100 parts and sent down one part of it, because of which the creation, that is, jinn, humans, animals and so on, show mercy to one another; and ninety-nine parts of mercy are with Allah Almighty. So what do you people think? Is he more astray or his camel?"
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say:
Abu Dawud recorded it in abridged form.
Ahmad and at-Tabarani recorded it; the narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Abu Ubayy Abdullah al-Jushami, though no one has declared him weak.
