عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " مَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ عِنْدَهُ مَالٌ يَتَصَدَّقُ بِهِ ; فَلْيَسْتَغْفِرْ لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ; فَإِنَّهَا صَدَقَةٌ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ مَنْ لَمْ أَعْرِفْهُمْ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does not have enough wealth to give in charity should pray for forgiveness for the believing men and the believing women, for this too is charity."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain contains narrators whom I do not know.
