وَعَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - : " يَتْبَعُ الرَّجُلَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مِنَ الْحَسَنَاتِ أَمْثَالُ الْجِبَالِ ، فَيَقُولُ : أَنَّى هَذَا ؟ ! فَيُقَالُ : بِاسْتِغْفَارِ وَلَدِكَ لَكَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الْأَوْسَطِ ، وَفِيهِ ضُعَفَاءُ قَدْ وُثِّقُوا .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "On the Day of Resurrection, good deeds like mountains will follow a man. That man will ask: Where have these come from? It will be said to him: Because of your offspring praying for forgiveness for you."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains some da'if (weak) narrators who have been declared trustworthy.
