Sayyiduna Yusuf bin Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: During the illness in which Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) passed away, I went to visit him. He asked me: O my nephew! What business do you have in this city, and why have you come here? The narrator says: I replied: It is nothing of the sort; I have come here only because of the bond that existed between you and my father, Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him). Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda (may Allah be pleased with him) said: This is an evil hour for lying (that is, the hour in which I am about to depart from the world) (that is, one cannot lie at such a time, and what I am about to tell you is completely true). I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Whoever performs ablution and does so well, then stands and prays two or four rak'ahs (this doubt is from a narrator named Sahl), performing the bowing and humility in them well, and then seeks forgiveness from Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty forgives him."
Ahmad recorded it, and its chain contains a narrator whom I do not know.
