وَعَنْ وَائِلِ بْنِ حُجْرٍ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " النَّدَمُ تَوْبَةٌ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَفِيهِ إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَجَلِيُّ ، وَثَّقَهُ ابْنُ حِبَّانَ ، وَضَعَّفَهُ غَيْرُ وَاحِدٍ ، وَبَقِيَّةُ رِجَالِهِ وُثِّقُوا .
Sayyiduna Wa'il bin Hujr (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Remorse is repentance."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains Isma'il bin Amr al-Bajali, whom Ibn Hibban declared thiqah (trustworthy) while more than one scholar declared him da'if (weak), and the rest of its narrators have been declared trustworthy.
