Majma al-Zawaid 17516 — Remorse for sin
وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - قَالَ : " النَّادِمُ يَنْتَظِرُ التَّوْبَةَ ، وَالْمُعْجَبُ يَنْتَظِرُ الْمَقْتَ " . رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ فِي الصَّغِيرِ ، وَفِيهِ مُطَرِّفُ بْنُ مَازِنٍ ، وَهُوَ ضَعِيفٌ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The remorseful one awaits repentance, and the self-admiring one awaits displeasure."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir; its chain contains Mutarrif bin Mazin, who is da'if (weak).
