Book of Repentance
بَابُ مَنْ لَمْ يَتُبْ لَمْ يُتَبْ عَلَيْهِ ، وَمَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ لَا يُرْحَمُ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَغْفِرْ لَمْ يُغْفَرْ لَهُ .
Whoever does not repent is not forgiven, whoever does not show mercy is not shown mercy, and whoever does not forgive is not forgiven

عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ لَا يَرْحَمُ لَا يُرْحَمُ ، وَمَنْ لَا يَغْفِرُ لَا يُغْفَرُ لَهُ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَتُبْ لَمْ يُتَبْ عَلَيْهِ " ، قُلْتُ : فِي الصَّحِيحِ طَرَفٌ مِنْهُ ، رَوَاهُ الطَّبَرَانِيُّ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بِاخْتِصَارٍ : " مَنْ لَمْ يَتُبْ لَمْ يُتَبْ عَلَيْهِ " . وَرِجَالُ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُ الصَّحِيحِ .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever does not show mercy is not shown mercy; whoever does not forgive is not forgiven; and whoever does not repent, his repentance is not accepted."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Part of this narration is mentioned in the Sahih.
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and Ahmad recorded it in abridged form, with these words: "Whoever does not repent, his repentance is not accepted." The narrators of Ahmad are the narrators of the Sahih.
