Sayyiduna Buraydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was on a journey when he passed by a man who was rolling over in the hot sand and saying: "O soul! Sleeping at night and doing vain things by day, and you hope for Paradise?" When he had finished reproaching his soul, he came towards us. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Take care of your brother!" We said: "Supplicate to Allah Almighty for us, may Allah Almighty have mercy on you." He said: "O Allah! Unite their affair upon guidance." We said: "Supplicate more!" He said: "O Allah! Make piety their provision for the journey." We said: "Supplicate more!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Supplicate more for them!" Then the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) supplicated: "O Allah! Grant him success." Then that man said: "O Allah! Make Paradise their final abode."
Al-Tabarani recorded it through Abu Abdullah, the one in charge of the sadaqah (charity), from Alqamah bin Marthad, and I do not know him; the rest of its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
