Thawr bin Yazid narrates: When Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) offered the Tahajjud prayer at night, he used to recite:
'Allahumma namat al-uyun, wa gharat al-nujum, wa anta hayyun qayyum, Allahumma talabi lil-jannati bati', wa harabi min al-nari da'if, Allahumma ij'al li indaka hadyan taradduhu ilayya yawm al-qiyamah, innaka la tukhlifu al-mi'ad'
(O Allah! Eyes have fallen asleep and the stars have set, and You are Ever-Living, Self-Sustaining. O Allah! My seeking of Paradise is slow, and my fleeing from Hell is weak. O Allah! Keep with You for me a gift which You will give me on the Day of Resurrection. Indeed, You do not break the promise.)
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its chain is munqati' (broken).
