Sayyiduna Buraydah al-Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to me: "O Buraydah! Shall I not teach you words such that, whomever Allah Almighty intends good for, He teaches him these words, and then that servant never forgets them?" The narrator says: I said: "Yes! O Messenger of Allah!" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite this:
'Allahumma inni da'ifun faqawwi fi ridaka da'fi, wa khudh ila al-khayri binasiyati, waj'al al-islama muntaha rida'i, Allahumma inni da'ifun faqawwini, wa inni dhalilun fa'a'izzani, wa inni faqirun fa'aghnini'
(O Allah! I am weak, so strengthen my weakness in what pleases You, lead me by my forelock towards good, and make Islam the utmost limit of my contentment. O Allah! I am weak, so grant me strength; I am overpowered, so grant me honour and dominance; I am poor, so make me prosperous.)"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, Abu Dawud al-A'ma (the blind), who is extremely da'if (weak).
