Harith al-A'war narrates: I went to Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) after the Isha prayer, and he asked: "What has brought you at this hour?" I replied: "I love you." He asked: "By Allah, do you truly love me?" I replied: "Yes! By Allah, I love you." He said: "Shall I not teach you the supplication that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me?" I replied: "Yes!" He said: "Recite this:
'Allahumma iftah masami'a qalbi lidhikrik, warzuqni ta'ataka wa ta'ata rasulika (peace and blessings be upon him), wa amalan bikitabik'
(O Allah! Open the hearing of my heart to Your remembrance, and grant me obedience to You and to Your Messenger, and acting upon Your Book.)"
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and the narrator Harith is da'if (weak).
