Sayyiduna Abd al-Rahman bin Awf (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I was standing in the courtyard of the mosque when I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) go out through the door that faces the graveyard. I first waited a little, then I set out after him. I found that he had entered a garden in al-Aswaf. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed ablution (wudu), then offered two rak'ahs; during this he went into prostration and prolonged the prostration. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ended the prayer with salam, I came before him and said: May my father and mother be sacrificed for you! You made such a prostration that I feared Allah Almighty might have taken your soul, because your prostration was very long. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Jibril gave me the glad tidings that whoever sends blessings upon me, Allah Almighty will send mercy upon him, and whoever sends salam upon me, Allah Almighty will send peace upon him."
