Imam Abu Ya'la has recorded, from Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him),
this narration: "Whichever Muslim supplicates for something, his supplication about it is answered: either Allah Almighty grants it to him, or else, in its place, He removes some sin from that person, as long as that person has not supplicated for something sinful or for the severing of family ties." The chain of this narration contains a narrator, Layth bin Abi Sulaym, and he is a mudallis; the remaining narrators of this narration are thiqat (trustworthy).
