Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) looked in the mirror, he would recite:
'Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi hassana khuluqi wa khalqi, wa zana minni ma shana min ghayri'
(All praise belongs to Allah, who has made my outward form and my character good, and adorned me in that in which others have defects (He has kept me safe from them).)
The narrator says: When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) applied kohl, he would first apply it twice in each eye, and then once more in both eyes. When he put on clothing, he would begin with the right side, and when he took it off, he would take off the left side first. When he entered the mosque, he would put his right foot in first. Whenever he took or gave anything, he liked to take and give with the right.
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a narrator, Amr bin al-Husayn al-Uqayli, who is matruk (abandoned).
