Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
'Amsayna wa amsal-mulku lillah, wal-hamdu lillah, a'udhu billahil-ladhi yumsikus-sama'a an taqa'a 'alal-ardi illa bi-idhnih, min sharri ma khalaqa wa dhara'a wa bara'a' (We have entered the evening, and the dominion of Allah Almighty has entered the evening, and all praise belongs to Allah. I seek refuge in Allah Almighty, who holds back the sky from falling upon the earth except by His permission; I seek refuge from the evil of everything that He has created, spread forth and made).
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) says: Whoever recites these words will be protected from every sorcerer, soothsayer, devil and envier.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy), though there is disagreement about some of its narrators.
