Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the evening the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this supplication:
'Amsayna wa amsal-mulku lillahil-wahidil-qahhar, alhamdu lillahil-ladhi dhahaba bin-nahar, wa ja'a bil-layl, wa nahnu fi 'afiyah. Allahumma hadha khalqun qad ja', fa-ma 'amiltu fihi min sayyi'atin fa-tajawaz 'anha, wa ma 'amiltu fihi min hasanatin fa-taqabbalha wa ad'ifha ad'afan muda'afah. Allahumma innaka bi-jami'i hajati 'alim, wa innaka 'ala jami'i nujhiha qadir, Allahumma anjihil-laylata kulla hajatin li, wa la tazidni fi dunyaya, wa la tanqusni fi akhirati' (We have entered the evening, and the dominion of Allah, the One, the Overwhelming, has entered the evening. All praise belongs to Allah alone, who has taken away the day and brought the night while we are in well-being. O Allah, this is a creation that has come; whatever evil I commit in it, overlook it, and whatever good I do in it, accept it and multiply its reward many times over. O Allah, You know all my needs and You have power to fulfil them all. O Allah, fulfil every need of mine this night, do not increase me in my worldly life, and do not decrease me in my Hereafter).
The narrator says: When morning came, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would recite the same.
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; its chain contains a narrator, al-Harith al-A'war, who is da'if (weak).
