Abu Wa'il narrates: One day I asked Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him); this was after we had returned from the Fajr prayer. We asked permission to come in to him, and he said: Come in! We thought we should wait a little, because perhaps the people of the house had some need of him. Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) came out reciting tasbih and said: Do you think that the family of Abdullah would be heedless? Then he said: O girl, look, has the sun risen? She said: No! Then he said to her a second time: Look, has the sun risen? She said: No! Then he said to her a third time: Look! Has the sun risen? She replied: Yes! Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "All praise belongs to Allah Almighty alone, who has granted us this day and has overlooked our slips in it."
The narrator says: I think the report also contains these words: "And He did not punish us with the Fire."
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
