Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 17015

Al-Hasan narrates: Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Shall I narrate to you a hadith which I heard many times from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), many times from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and many times from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)? I replied: Yes! He said: "Whoever recites this in the morning and in the evening:
'Allahumma anta khalaqtani, wa anta tahdini, wa anta tut'imuni, wa anta tasqini, wa anta tumituni, wa anta tuhyini' (O Allah, You created me, You guide me, You feed me, You give me drink, You will cause me to die, and You will bring me back to life).
Then whatever that person asks of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty will grant him that thing.
The narrator says: I met Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Salam (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: Shall I not narrate to you a hadith which I heard many times from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), many times from Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and many times from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him)? He replied: Yes! I narrated this hadith to him, and he said: May my father and mother be sacrificed for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! These are the words which Allah Almighty gave to Sayyiduna Musa (peace be upon him), and he used to supplicate with them seven times every day, and whatever he asked of Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty would grant him. Al-Tabarani recorded this report in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat, and its chain is hasan (good).
