بَابُ مَا يَقُولُ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ وَإِذَا أَمْسَى .
What one says in the morning and evening

وَعَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ قَالَ : حَدَّثَتْنِي جَارَةٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَسْمَعُ النَّبِيَّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - يَقُولُ عِنْدَ طُلُوعِ الْفَجْرِ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْقَبْرِ " .
قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : فَقُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جَمَعَهَا إِنْسَانٌ ؟ قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مَا قَالَ ].
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى : فَقُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ جَمَعَهَا إِنْسَانٌ ؟ قَالَ : فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - مَا قَالَ ].
رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَرِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Abdullah bin al-Qasim narrates: A woman who was a neighbour of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) told me that she used to hear the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recite this at the time of true dawn:
'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabil-qabri wa min fitnatil-qabr'
"O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave and from the trial of the grave."
Abu Isa says: I asked Abdullah: "What is your view about this, if a person combines them?" He replied: "The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited it in this way."
Ahmad recorded it, and its narrators are thiqat (trustworthy).
