Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 169

Sahl bin Mu'adh narrates from his father this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "The one who is safe (al-salim) is the one from whose tongue and hand people are safe."
Ahmad and al-Tabarani (in al-Mu'jam al-Kabir) recorded it. Its chain mentions that Ibn Lahi'ah narrated it from Zabban, and both of them are da'if (weak), though Abu Hatim declared Zabban thiqah (trustworthy). Zabban himself also narrated this narration with the word "Muslim" in place of the word "salim", but Ibn Lahi'ah is not in the chain of that narration.
