Sayyidah Salma, the mother of the children of Sayyiduna Abu Rafi' (may Allah be pleased with him), who was the freed slave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), narrates that she said: "O Messenger of Allah, tell me some words, but let them not be many." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Recite 'Allahu akbar' ten times, and Allah Almighty will say: 'This is for Me.' Recite 'Subhan Allah' ten times, and Allah Almighty will say: 'This is for Me.' Recite 'Allahumma ighfir li' (O Allah, forgive me), and Allah Almighty will say: 'I have done so.' You will recite it ten times, and Allah Almighty will say (each time): 'I have done so.'"
Al-Tabarani recorded it, and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
