Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him): "Why do you not eat from the gardens of Paradise? Why do you not roam about in them?" He said: "O Messenger of Allah, what is meant by eating from them?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Reciting 'Alhamdulillah', 'Subhan Allah', 'La ilaha illa Allah' and 'Allahu akbar'." Sayyiduna Salman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Everything has its planting, so what is the planting of Paradise?" The Prophet said: "Reciting 'Subhan Allah', 'Alhamdulillah', 'La ilaha illa Allah' and 'Allahu akbar'."
(Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: Al-Tirmidhi recorded a hadith from this Companion in a wording other than this.
Al-Bazzar recorded it; its chain contains Humayd al-Makki, who is not Humayd bin Qays; this one is the freed slave (mawla) of Ibn Alqamah, and no one besides Zayd bin al-Hubab narrated from him. The rest of its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
