Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: "Allah Almighty has distributed your character traits among you just as He has distributed your provision among you. Allah Almighty gives wealth both to the one He loves and to the one He does not love, but He gives faith only to the one He loves. When Allah Almighty loves a servant, He grants him faith. So whoever is miserly about spending wealth, or fears the enemy when it comes to taking part in jihad, or is unable to worship at night, should recite abundantly: 'La ilaha illallah, wallahu akbar, wal-hamdu lillah, wa subhanallah' (There is no deity except Allah; Allah is the Greatest; all praise is for Allah; glory be to Allah)."
Tabarani recorded it as mawquf (a Companion's own statement), and its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih.
