Sayyiduna Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came out to us and said: "Prepare your protection!" The people said: "O Messenger of Allah, has an enemy come?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Prepare your protection from Hell! Recite 'Subhanallah' (Glory be to Allah), 'Al-hamdu lillah' (All praise is for Allah), 'La ilaha illallah' (There is no deity except Allah), 'Allahu akbar' (Allah is the Greatest) and 'La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah' (There is no power and no strength except with Allah), for when these phrases come on the Day of Resurrection, they will be in front, they will bring salvation, they will set apart (from Hell), and these are the enduring good deeds."
Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir and al-Mu'jam al-Awsat; in al-Mu'jam al-Saghir its narrators are the narrators of the Sahih, except for Dawud bin Bilal, and he is thiqah (trustworthy).
