Majma al-Zawaid — Hadith 1677

Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever offers the five prayers at their appointed times, performs ablution well for them, and completes their standing, their humility, their bowing and their prostrations, then when that prayer goes forth it is white and radiant, saying: May Allah Almighty protect you as you have protected me. And whoever offers the prayer outside its time, does not perform ablution well for it, and does not complete its humility, its bowing and its prostrations, then when that prayer goes forth it is black and dark, saying: May Allah Almighty waste you just as you have wasted me. Until, when it reaches the place that Allah wills, it is folded up just as an old garment is folded up, and then (that prayer) is struck against that person's face."
Al-Tabarani recorded it in al-Mu'jam al-Awsat. Its chain contains a narrator, Abbad bin Kathir, whose weakness the hadith scholars agree upon. (Allamah al-Haythami says:) I say: The hadith of Sayyiduna Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him), similar to this, will come in the chapter about one who does not complete his prayer and does not perform its bowing properly.
