وَعَنْ أَبِي جُمُعَةَ قَالَ : تَغَدَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - وَمَعَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ بْنُ الْجَرَّاحِ فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَحَدٌ خَيْرٌ مِنَّا ؟ أَسْلَمْنَا مَعَكَ ، وَجَاهَدْنَا مَعَكَ ؟ قَالَ : " نَعَمْ . قَوْمٌ يَكُونُونَ مِنْ بَعْدِي ، يُؤْمِنُونَ بِي وَلَمْ يَرَوْنِي " . رَوَاهُ أَحْمَدُ ، وَأَبُو يَعْلَى ، وَالطَّبَرَانِيُّ بِأَسَانِيدَ ، وَأَحَدُ أَسَانِيدِ أَحْمَدَ رِجَالُهُ ثِقَاتٌ .
Sayyiduna Abu Jumu'ah (may Allah be pleased with him) states: We had the morning meal with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah bin al-Jarrah (may Allah be pleased with him) was with us. He said: "O Messenger of Allah! Will anyone be better than us, when we accepted Islam with you and took part in jihad with you?" the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes! A people who will come after me; they will believe in me although they have not seen me."
Ahmad, Abu Ya'la and al-Tabarani recorded it with various chains, and the narrators of one of Ahmad's chains are thiqat (trustworthy).
