Sayyiduna Yazid bin Ma'bad (may Allah be pleased with him) states: I came with a delegation to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he asked me about al-Yamamah: "Who among its inhabitants is just?" I intended to say that this quality is found in Banu Abd al-Du'al, but then I disliked making a false statement to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so I said: "Among them justice is found in Banu Ubayd." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "You have spoken the truth. It is a land that stands firm upon hardship, and it will not be destroyed." The people said: "O Messenger of Allah! What is the reason for that?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Those people work with their own hands and feed their slaves along with themselves."
Al-Tabarani recorded it; its chain contains a group of narrators whom I do not know.
